With many businesses focused on the bottom line and maximizing their profits, it is encouraging to find companies who are determined to make a difference in the world. In the past decade, military support programs have regained popularity, and many people and corporations have chosen military and veteran support as their area to give back through. As American actor and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital founder Danny Thomas said, “Success has nothing to do with what you gain in life or accomplish for yourself. It’s what you do for others.”
Earlier today, I ran into an event on Facebook called “Military Spouses Helping Veterans Heal.” I don’t know about you, but I am all about helping people, especially when those people have needs because of sacrifices they made for this nation. CAMMO (Center for American Military Music Opportunities) provides help to veterans through music therapy, and this Facebook event is one way for you to help them continue to do so! Erin Whitehead from Many Kind Regards has written this beautiful article explaining what this organization is, how the Facebook event works, and how you’ll be helping veterans while also getting some Christmas shopping done.
There are easily over 1 million nonprofit organizations in the US. That’s a lot to choose from! If you’re wanting to give some of your money or time (which is a wonderful thing!) but you’re not sure where you should give, here’s a small list to start you out.
Keep in mind that there are many more charities out there aimed at serving our military. These are just a few I found that have plenty of information about their organization along with some great missions.
