Seems kind of silly that I’ve been THAT excited to write about getting healthier, right? Well hang in there, because this isn’t about some kind of fad diet that’s just helped me feel good. This is about a new lifestyle that’s entirely changed my life. (Like, forever.)
The story begins last winter, when my husband and I were both full-time students.
We were EXHAUSTED.
Between balancing housework, my blog, the toughest college courses I’d ever taken in my life, and some sort of a social life (including spending time with the hubs), I couldn’t make it through the days without caffeine. We started every (extremely early) morning with coffee and filled it with tea, energy drinks, and those horrible little 5-hour energy shots. If caffeine wasn’t coursing through my veins I was either asleep or about to be.
On top of that, I wasn’t happy with my body.
I would be the first to tell you that it’s important to love yourself and be comfortable in your own skin no matter WHAT you look like, but the truth is that I had a hard time doing that myself. My husband has always made me feel loved (and sexy… Can I say that here? Oh yeah I own this space), but anytime I was in a swimsuit you would find me covering up my tummy or sucking in so I looked skinnier.
I ate CLEAN and in high school I exercised 3-5 times each week (it was a little less than that after I graduated – ha!). My typical day looked like this: oatmeal for breakfast, fruits/veggies/healthy crackers for snacks, salads for lunch, and usually fish or chicken with veggies for dinner. Healthy, right?
So why did I feel so fat? Every time someone would suggest going swimming or heading to the beach, fear would wash over me. Wearing a swimsuit wasn’t just embarrassing for me, it was painful. Sometimes I would even make excuses as to why I couldn’t swim or why I needed to keep a shirt on at the beach.
Fast forward to the following spring, when we started to hang out with a sweet couple we met while we lived in Northern California.
Kimberly started using this simple system a little over a year ago while her husband was deployed, and it helped her get her natural energy back (which we desperately wanted!!!). Her husband, Buddy, saw how amazing his wife looked when he got home and he knew that this was something real. After losing all of the gains he worked so hard to build in Afghanistan, he was looking for a shortcut to get fit again.
I think he found it, don’t you? (LOL!)
This powerhouse couple had another transformation that was even more mind-blowing than their physical results, but I’ll share that story another time (stay connected so you don’t miss it!).
Their results were amazing, so we took the leap of faith and decided to start this new lifestyle together. Our brown box that had everything we needed arrived in April and we started the next morning, on April 9. The events that followed SERIOUSLY blew my mind (and they still do, when I think about it).
Although coffee isn’t bad for you (it actually has a lot of health benefits), we decided to cut the cord on caffeine until we felt great again. I had a few headaches during the first few days (proof that I was addicted.. haha) but on the fifth day I woke up feeling like a brand new person.
I’m serious y’all, I hadn’t had that much natural energy since middle school.
I didn’t even hit the snooze button! I jumped out of bed and headed for the gym as soon as I dropped off my husband. When I would go to the gym in the past, I would usually play on a few machines and call it a day but that day, for the first time EVER, I actually pushed myself. So hard, in fact, that I ended up puking my guts out in the cardio room! Ha!
In the days that followed I kept feeling better and better, and when I looked back after 30 days I was SHOCKED. I had only worked out once each week (that’s a total of FOUR workouts people!!!) and I didn’t expect any physical results. But lo and behold, cleansing the toxins out of your body and fueling it properly really can work miracles (well, to me it was a miracle!).
I’ve NEVER seen my stomach this toned… Not even when I was ridiculously active! You guys, I’m hooked on this stuff for LIFE!!
My husband also had some pretty killer results. After his first two weeks of fueling his body with these superfoods, he had a practice PFT (physical fitness test). He didn’t prepare for it outside of his normal PT (alongside everyone else), yet he was able to shave 11 seconds off his max time for his 3-mile run. ELEVEN!! That’s a huge deal when you think you’ve already maxed out!!!
It gets better, though.
Within a month of starting this system, he had his real PFT. He was super nervous because he still wasn’t running outside of regular PT and he felt like he should’ve done something to prepare. However, he ended up running his 3 miles in only 17 minutes and 42 seconds, which was about 1.5 MINUTES shorter than what he ran the previous year! Crazy, right?!?! This dude is so fast!!!
I’m so proud of this guy. His incredible run time landed him a PERFECT score on his PFT! I read online once that less than 1.6% of active-duty Marines achieve this, but of course I can’t find the source now that I’m typing about it (you’re welcome to look for that stat yourself).
It was a really easy switch and we’re actually eating MORE food now on this system than we were before we started. It’s all natural, soy-free, and has no GMO’s, so it fits (okay let’s be real, it exceeds) our standards. (We don’t always eat organic but we try! LOL) It’s also nice that the cleanse works on a cellular level because you don’t have to be close to a bathroom when you do it. I am NOT a fan of poop cleanses!! Haha!
The best part? This actually SAVES us money!!! I know, right?! I’ll break down the costs for you guys in a later post.
