I have a confession… I’m a huge geek.
As much as I try to cover it up with contacts and girly stuff, deep down I’m a glasses and retainer wearing, technology loving, sometimes overly obsessive geek. My husband is too, actually, and the first time we ever hung out outside of our high school was to play Magic: The Gathering together. (True story!)
Naturally, I was thrilled when I got my first box from Geek Fuel. There were so many cool things inside this little treasure chest!
Geek Fuel sends out a new mystery box every month to subscribers, and every month they’re filled with different geeky goodies. This month I happened to get an AWESOME t-shirt of a Batman/Pac-Man mash up, a Wonder Woman pint glass, a special miniature issue of RETRO (a gaming magazine – $9.99 value), earthworm gummy candies with a download code for a game called Worms ($7.99 value), a Space Invaders themed soap-on-a-rope, and an “I heart RETRO” button and vinyl sticker.
All of that for as low as $13.90 a month. That seriously blows my mind.
I’m not sure what the retail value is on all of the other items, but I know for certain that the value of just the RETRO magazine combined with Worms totals to $17.98. Those two items alone are worth more than the cost of the entire box!
Needless to say, Geek Fuel REALLY gives you a bang for your buck! Plus finding one of these mystery boxes on your doorstep really does feel like Christmas morning. Every box comes with an exclusive t-shirt, and Geek Fuel guarantees that the products will always have a combined value of over $40.
My husband is definitely more of a gamer than me, and he’s really enjoyed looking through our special edition of RETRO. Since I’m not huge into gaming (only because I don’t have much time for it, sadly) I don’t have a computer that’s really equipped for games. Because of this, Worms ran a little slow on my shoddy computer, but it was still a lot of fun to play! Plus the gummy worms tasted great, too :)
Even though I don’t really consider myself a gamer, I LOVE classic arcade games and I thought the Space Invaders soap-on-a-rope was so cool! In fact, my husband took me on a mini-vacation in Santa Cruz for Valentine’s Day last month and we spent a day at the famous boardwalk there. As soon as we ran into an arcade I was pretty much glued to a Pac-Man game for at least an hour. I don’t mean to brag or anything, but I set the high score. (Kidding… I totally mean to brag!!!)
As both a Pac-Man and Batman fan, I was ecstatic when I saw the shirt that came with this month’s Geek Fuel box. I seriously love this shirt so much!! Wonder Woman was always my favorite superhero when I was growing up, so I also love the pint glass I got!
I definitely recommend Geek Fuel to anybody who considers themselves a geek. I also think a subscription would make an awesome gift, because whoever you give it to will get a new one every month! If someone you love lives far away for whatever reason (the military, college, a career in the circus…), this would also make a fantastic care package. See, you don’t even have to be creative to send awesome care packages! Geek Fuel will do it for you :)
