Sari Foods Co. provided me with the superfoods to review and giveaway and this post contains some affiliate links. All opinions are always 100% mine.
I’m seriously so excited to share these foods with you. Eeek!
In fact, I’m so excited that I created a deliciously awesome smoothie recipe so that if you want to try these superfoods for yourself you have a great place to start. Before I share the recipe, though, I want to tell you about these terrific foods and why I love them so much.
(Also, I’m giving away one of each of these foods to a lucky email subscriber, so make sure to enter your email at the bottom of this post! The retail value for these foods totals to $94.93)
My favorite of these three by far is the Nutritional Yeast Flakes. They’re seriously so delicious! They taste like cheese and they can be sprinkled on just about anything. So far my husband and I have sprinkled them in soup, on casseroles, and on these yummy ham and cheese crackers, just to name a few. (Warning about the ham, cheese, & Yeast Flakes crackers: they are EXTREMELY addicting! The reason I sprinkled so much of the Yeast Flakes on my crackers is because the flakes honestly taste amazing.)
All of Sari Food Company‘s products are always 100% natural and their nutritional yeast is low in calories, fat, and sodium, but PACKED with vitamins, minerals, fiber, and protein. These properties make this superfood a fantastic addition to the diet of anyone who’s trying to lose weight. The naturally occurring enzymes and antioxidants in the Yeast Flakes also help fight off free radicals (which can help slow your body’s aging process) and the B-vitamins help provide a natural boost in energy levels.
If all of that was over your head, just know that it’s really really good for you and it tastes really, really amazing.
The Spirulina Powder has a weird smell to it, but it really doesn’t taste bad. In fact I couldn’t taste it at all in my smoothie. According to Sari Foods, “Spirulina is the most nutrient dense food known to humankind, contains more protein content than any other food source and is the most planet-friendly source of protein!”
It has tons of protein, vitamins, and nutrients, and it’s basically nature’s multivitamin in a non-Flintstones shape (it’s also great that none of the vitamins found in Spirulina are synthetic, unlike the store bought multivitamins).
The Vitamin C Powder is derived from acerola cherries and it contains over 833% of your recommended daily amount of vitamin C in only one teaspoon! Again, that’s all natural vitamin C – nothing synthetic here!
I honestly loved these superfoods so much that I wanted to share my smoothie recipe I came up with using the Spirulina and Vitamin C Powder. It’s ridiculously good for you and it doesn’t even taste healthy! (Because healthy is supposed to taste bad, right? Ha!)
And now for my deliciously awesome recipe…
- 1 cup fresh or frozen sliced strawberries
- 2 whole kiwis, peeled
- 8 ounces fresh spinach (don’t worry, you can’t taste it!)
- 1 cup vanilla or plain yogurt
- 1 teaspoon Spirulina Powder
- 1 teaspoon Vitamin C Powder
- Blend until smooth.
- Enjoy in a dark corner of your house hiding from your husband so he won’t try to drink it all.
