Having your own little herb garden right there in your kitchen is a great way to incorporate some organic (and cheap!) spices into your cooking. So grab a few tin cans out of your recycling bin and let’s get crafty!
I started by peeling the labels off of three tin cans and washing them out. The glue used to hold the labels on the cans is pretty tough, so I used a pocket knife to scrape it off as best as I could (don’t worry if you can’t get it all off, you can turn this side of the can around when you’re done so it’s not shown).
It’s been fun watching the basil plants grow, and I’m currently nursing my pineapple mint plant back to health after accidentally neglecting it (chives are much easier to grow, as they tolerate just about anything, it seems like).
Ooh, look how much the basil is growing!
How beautiful. We could always use a little more green in our lives!
